Staples' tavern table is graced with hand turned legs designed 30 years ago by Stephen's mentor, Berger Johnson.  The tavern table's proportions are correct when surrounded by Windsor chairs with its long overhang on the ends.  The tavern table will be as comfortable at home on a fine oriental rug as it was on a sawdust laden floor of an old New England tavern.

Country with a formal flair, the tavern table adds a magical ambiance to any setting.  With the varied color choices for the worn painted base, this table works well with everything from an oriental rug to a hard wood floor.  

Our tavern table is offered in reclaimed antique pine top and drawer front or new hard wood top and drawer front.  The hand turned tavern legs, aprons and stretchers are hand painted in your choice of color and worn to look old.  The joinery of the aprons and rails to the legs is of pegged mortise and tenon construction with the center stretcher dovetailed into the end cross stretchers.  This time honored design lends itself well to a contemporary lifestyle.
