Chris Staples inspecting the newest
delivery after been washed. WHAT DOES IT MEAN
WHEN WE SAY OUR WOOD IS RECLAIMED????
The wood we use in most of our furniture was
originally harvested by our Forefathers over a century ago. These
original growth New England trees yielded woods with unusually rich colors
and tight grains quite distinct from those to be found in contemporary wood.
Today we find this
wonderful wood in old homes, barns and mills after having aged for
generations in the form of beams, planks and floors. These prized
woods are retrieved from these old buildings on the brink of destruction.
The past comes alive
in our furniture as we breathe life into the boards presenting the old
patina, rich with color, displaying a character unmatched by any artificial
means. For those who are concerned
with the preservation of old growth forests, the use of salvaged materials is particularly
important.

Steve starts out with an old wooden beam. He turns it into
beautiful 4" turnip feet. Four of these turnip feet adorn this coffee table with old drawer fragments and a wonderful
top made from antique white pine barn flooring. |
